The Origin of White People: The Past Is in the Future – Connecting the Dots
Studying the creation of a white as a race teaches us much about structural racism in the US. Knowing our history empowers us to address today’s systemic racial disparities, yet that history is not taught. The trainers will present a narrative of The Origin of White People, and trace events in the 1600s to modern crises such as mass incarceration, police violence toward People of Color, and white fragility. Discussion will follow.Presenters are Robin Alpern, Director of Training at CSWAC and Charley Flint, PhD, activist, educator, scholar and Professor of Sociology at William Paterson University, Wayne, New Jersey.
