SNAP and HUSKY

The Food for Thought campaign is building a community of universal school meal advocates to ensure that every student in Stamford has access to free school meals, by maximizing SNAP and HUSKY participation. SNAP and HUSKY are non-reporting programs that promote food and healthy equity and contribute to SPS’s ISP – applicant information is completely confidential and does not impact immigration processes.

What is SNAP?

SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, formerly known as food stamps) is a federal program that provides eligible households with a monthly benefit that they can use to buy food at participating grocery stores, farmers’ markets and other places that accept EBT cards. SNAP is the nation’s largest nutrition assistance program – it is a proven anti-hunger and anti-poverty program that reaches millions each year.
