Supporting Early Literacy Outside of School (4 Part Series)

Stamford Public Schools (SPS) will share an overview of the early literacy curriculum and hand-on practice with strategies and tools used during the school day. This will allow out of school program staff to understand and feel prepared to support literacy development of elementary aged students, in alignment with what is taught in school.

All sessions are Tuesdays from 11:00am-1:00pm
4th Floor Cafeteria, Government Center, 888 Washington Blvd.
Light lunch will be served.

• NOVEMBER 15, 2022: SPS Literacy Overview /Foundational
  Literacy Skills Assessment (FLSA)
• JANUARY 24, 2023: Oral Languages
• FEBRUARY 28, 2023: Phonemic Awareness
• MARCH 21, 2023: Phonics

Note: the sessions are designed for an in person experience due to hands-on activity practice. Although we will have a virtual option for those who are unable to attend in person, please be aware some of the activities may not translate as well virtually.
